The westernmost day walk in Stirling Range National Park, the walk to the summit of Mt Magog is also the park's longest day walk trail. Initially walking through the lowlands, the trail quickly steepens to take on the mountain head on as it rises to a saddle between the summit and the neighbouring Talyuberlup. With some scrambling to the summit, this is an excellent walk in one of Western Australia's most beloved national parks
One of the many mountain walks in Stirling Range National Park, the Mt Hassell Walk Trail takes walkers to the summit of one of the Stirling Range's smaller and less visited peaks. Located centrally on Stirling Range Dr, Mt Hassell's offers a manageable and short alternative to Bluff Knoll, while offering impressive views of the mighty Toolbrunup Peak. Apart from a tricky scramble near the top, this is the perfect beginner's trail in the Stirlings
Known as the 'wildflower mountain', the trail to Mt Trio's peak is one of the best places to see wildflowers in the Stirling Range. Initially ascending steeply through beautiful flowering heath to the mountain's saddle, the trail evens out for a gentle finish towards to summit. Featuring an abundance of Mountain Bells, Banksias and Grass Trees and excellent views, this is a must do for those with an interest in botany.
Arguably Western Australia's most well known and popular bushwalk, the Bluff Knoll trail takes walkers up the highest peak of the Stirling Range. Following a well maintained, tourist friendly trail, the ascent is nevertheless steep and continuously uphill. For their efforts, walkers are rewarded with 360° views from the summit, including a spectacular view of the Eastern Peaks that make up the Stirling Ridge Walk.
A superb but challenging day walk, the trail to Toolbrunup Peak takes walkers to the summit of the second highest mountain in the Stirling Range. Steeper and wilder than Bluff Knoll, the trail's initially moderate ascent passes through forest before a scramble through two boulder fields and steep rocky ledges on the way to the summit. With breathtaking 360° views across the entire range, this is a must do for experienced walkers.
Aptly described as 'short but uncompromising', the trek to Talyuberlup's peak is one of the more difficult in the Stirling Range. Tackling the mountain head on, the trail is a continual and increasingly steep ascent that requires scrambling in its latter half. Walkers are rewarded with an impressive mountain cave and views of tall, rocky crags on the way to the summit, as well as views across the range - if you are lucky with the weather!
