Carmel Walk (Korung National Park)
Posted on 15:49 by AlissaandDon
A short forest stroll in Korung National Park, the Carmel Walk follows a figure eight through a parcel of burnt Jarrah forest. Starting at Morton Rd, the trail loops through the charred trees over its first loop before passing a cherry blossom orchard and into the nicer second loop. Returning to the orchard, the trail passes by a section that is home to cockatoos. An uneventful walk that is not one of the Shire of Kalamunda's best

Abyssinia Rock Walk GPS Route (Jarrahdale State Forest)
Posted on 13:33 by AlissaandDon
A medium length, partly off-track loop in Jarrahdale State Forest, the Abyssinia Rock Walk GPS Route explores Abyssinia Rock. Initially following the Bibbulmun Track, the route traverses the entire length of the rock and the next granite outcrop along before looping back through Jarrah forest and crossing a number of creeks. One of Walk GPS's more on-track walks, this is a good trail walk for partly off-track walking

An enjoyable walk in Kalamunda National Park, the Helena Pipehead Walk explores the a section of the Helena River downstream of Mundaring Weir. Heading along old vehicle tracks, the trail follows the river to so excellent vantage points while also passing the Pipehead Dam. Heading to the Piesse Brook valley, the trail loops back through more pleasant forest. One of the better Shire of Kalamunda walks

Heading back across the island, the boardwalk leads to a series of caves and the Penguin Discovery Centre. A very short but enjoyable walk worth doing if in the area

Bickley Brook Walk (Korung National Park)
Posted on 20:02 by AlissaandDon
A short but enjoyable walk in Korung National Park, the Bickley Brook Walk explores the brook just above Bickley Reservoir. Crossing the brook at a bridge, the trail rises up to provide stunning views of the Swan Coastal Plain and neighbouring valleys. Descending another creek then rising to mature Wandoo forests, the trail descends to a second brook crossing to complete the loop. One of the Shire of Kalamunda's better walks

Ngank Wen Bidi (Rottnest Island)
Posted on 19:01 by AlissaandDon
The most remote section of the Wadjemup Bidi trail network on Rottnest, the Ngank Wen Bidi explores the wild and rugged western end of the island. Starting at Narrow Neck, the trail explores pristine beaches before reaching the outstanding lookouts at Cathedral Rocks and Fish Hook Bay. Let down slightly by a less exciting second half, the excellent qualities of this trail still make it a must do

The Spectacles (Beeliar Regional Park)
Posted on 12:15 by AlissaandDon
A combination of two short loop walks in Beeliar Regional Park, the Banksia and Aboriginal Heritage Trails explore the Swan Coastal Plain around the Spectacles near Kwinana. Initially passing through beautiful banksia blooms before circling the larger of the two lakes, the area's highlight is the Kiara Boardwalk that stretches metres out through the paperbarks onto the lake. One of the better walks in the Swan Coastal Plain

Part of the Churchman's Bushlands trail network, the combined Kangaroo and Echidna Trails are a stunningly diverse loop walk in the Perth Hills. Starting in Jarrah forest, the trail leads to excellent views of the city from a grassy field before running along the Canning River Valley. Finishing with a bang, the trail leads to The Wall - a superb rock climbing wall - before looping up to the top. An enjoyable and underrated walk.

Stathams Quarry (Gooseberry Hill National Park)
Posted on 14:43 by AlissaandDon
A short walk in Gooseberry Hill National Park, the Stathams Quarry Walk loops past Stathams Quarry - a popular rock climbing venue in the Perth Hills. Taking in most of the best features of Gooseberry Hill, the trail also passes the famous Zig Zag, the remains of the quarry's site office and lovely Wandoo woodlands. Unfortunately let down by poor signage, the Shire of Kalamunda's KML file is essential

Baldwin's Bluff (Serpentine National Park)
Posted on 10:05 by AlissaandDon
The other, lesser known walk trail in Serpentine National Park, Baldwin's Bluff's walk trail leads walkers along vehicle tracks to the summit of a nearby hill. Dominated by Wandoo Woodlands and Granite outcrops, the trail is particularly lovely in early Spring, with wildflowers in bloom and spectacular views of Serpentine Falls and the valley beyond. Worth checking out for the view alone.

A pleasant and relatively easy walk, the 3.5 kilometre Noble Falls Walk Trail takes walkers along Wooroloo Brook in Gidegannup. Starting and ending at the beautiful Noble Falls, the trail features gentle gradients as it passes through bushland and near semi-rural properties, with the brook a constant companion. Whistlepipe Gully Walk (Mundy Regional Park)
Posted on 19:42 by AlissaandDon
A short but consistently excellent trail in Mundy Regional Park, this walk follows Whistlepipe Gully in the Perth Hills. Along it 3.5 kilometre length, the trail follows the gully as it courses over cascades and small waterfalls, memorably passing through the ruins of a house built right on the gully's edge. A miniature, dog-friendly version of Serpentine's Kitty's Gorge, this is one of Perth's best shorter trails.
