Tongariro Northern Circuit (NZ) - Waihohonu to Whakapapa



The final day of the Tongariro Northern Circuit, the final day takes walkers from Waihohonu to Whakapapa Leaving Waihohonu Hut, the track follows a series of streams and watercourses through open plains and heathlands with views of Mts Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu. Wide side trips to the Tama Lakes and Taranaki Falls, this is a fittingly enjoyable and scenic conclusion to one of New Zealand's most famous Great Walks

Tongariro Northern Circuit (NZ) - Oturere to Waihohonu


The shortest day of the Tongariro Northern Circuit, the 8.1 kilometre third day takes walkers from Oturere to Waihohonu. Leaving Oturere Hut, the track journeys through more desert-like rugged terrain before entering beautiful rainforest on the home stretch to the thoroughly modern and comfortable hut at Waihohonu. Featuring worthwhile side trips to Old Waihohonu Hut anOhinepango Springs, this is another enjoyable day on the circuit

Tongariro Northern Circuit (NZ) - Mangatepopo to Oturere


Day 2 of the Tongariro Northern Circuit, this day takes trampers over the famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing. From Mangatepopo Hut, the track runs through a valley before an 800 metre climb to Red Crater's spectacular views of Mt Ngauruhoe. Descending through the Emerald Lakes, the track runs through a stark and rugged moonscape to Oturere Hut. A fantastic day of hiking that lives up to its reputation as one of New Zealand's best

Tongariro Northern Circuit (NZ) - Whakapapa to Mangatetopo


The first day of the Tongariro Northern Circuit, this 9.4 km day explores the west side around of Mt Ngauruhoe. Starting at Whakapapa Village, the track passes through low grasslands, heath, and pockets of rainforest. Crossing Wairere Stream and a number of drier watercourses, the day finishes at Mangatetopo Hut, which provides views of Mt Ngauruhoe in clear weather. A good start to one of New Zealand's iconic Great Walks
