Deep River Walk Trail (Walpole-Nornalup National Park)


A short but enjoyable loop walk in Walpole-Nornalup National Park, the Deep River Walk Trail explores the Tingle and Karri forests of Mt Clare. Taking a gradual climb up to the summit, the trail follows the Bibbulmun Track to the Mt Clare campsite before descending steeply to the suspension bridge at Deep River. Following the road, the trail returns back to the start through more lovely forests

Nuyts Wilderness Track (Walpole-Nornalup National Park)


A wild and neglected walk in Walpole-Nornalup National Park, the Nuyts Wilderness Track explores an underrated section and varied section of the park. Starting at Deep River and running concurrently with the Bibbulmun Track, the Nuyts Wilderness Track branches off to explore the stunning Thompson and Aldridge Coves. Featuring ruggedly beautiful coastal views, this is an area teeming with untapped potential

Early Bibbulmun Adventures 2003-2004 (Throwback Thursday Special)


A Throwback Thursday Special, this post recounts the early Bibbulmun Track Adventures and Hiking Origin Story of The Long Way's Better, starting with the first sectional hike in late 2003 (Walpole to Denmark) and the second from Brookton Hwy to Kalamunda - which in turn revealed an interesting mistake in this finally complete Origin Story

Bibbulmun Track (WA) - Long Point to Walpole


The final day of a seven day hike on the Bibbulmun Track, this double hut section takes walkers from the coast at Long Point to the town of Walpole. Initially passing through heathlands with spectacular coastal views, the track enters the lush Tingle forests as its climbs to the campsite at Mt Clare before entering a myriad of different landscapes on the way into town. An excellent end to the Northcliffe to Walpole stretch of the track

Bibbulmun Track (WA) - Frankland River to Walpole


The final day of a three day walk from Conspicuous Beach to Walpole, this section of the Bibbulmun Track features the largest and most impressive trees on the entire track. Leaving Frankland River campsite, the Giant Tingle Tree and another massive fallen Tingle are the highlights of the day, as well as excellent views of the Walpole Inlet from Hilltop Lookout before walking along inlet cliffs on the way into the town of Walpole.

Bibbulmun Track (WA) - Conspicuous Beach to Giants



The first day of a three day walk from Conspicuous Beach to Walpole, this is a day of transition on the Bibbulmun Track. Starting overlooking Conspicuous Beach, the walk passes through coastal heathlands, areas of lower Eucalypt forest before crossing South Coast Hwy into the majestic Tingle forests of Walpole-Nornalup National Park. Walkers are treated to an overnight stay surrounded by the Red Tingles at Giants Campsite.
