Mt Cooke (Monadnocks Conservation Park)

One of the best day walks in the Perth area, the Cooke Plantation trail to Mt Cooke provides the best access point for reaching the summit of the Darling Scarp's tallest peak. Following an unmarked but surprisingly well maintain trail from the Cooke Plantation, the walk rises up the granite slope before joining the Bibbulmun Track to the summit. Featuring a cave, rugged ridge walking and spectacular views, this is a must do.

Palm Terrace Walk (Mundy Regional Park)

One of the Shire of Kalamunda's trails, the Palm Terrace Walk provides a loop walk around Lesmurdie Falls. Starting near the foot of the falls, the trail's loop through Wandoo Woodlands to the area above the falls, crossing Lesmurdie Brook near a series of lovely cascades. While pleasant enough, the trail is let down by its inexplicable avoidance of Lesmurdie Falls itself.

Lewis Road Walk (Mundy Regional Park)

A short but occasionally steep walk in the Perth Hills, the Lewis Road Walk provides a lovely loop through Munday Regional Park. Crossing Whistlepipe Gully and passing through some excellent stands of Wandoo, the loop's ascents are rewarded by stunning views across the Swan Coastal Plain and the beautiful Regional Parklands. Intersecting with the Whistlepipe Gully Walk, this trail offers an excellent alternate view of the same landscape.

Bibbulmun Track (WA) - Powerline Rd to Wearne Rd

A long, flat day walk on the Bibbulmun Track, this double hut section of the track takes walkers from Powerline Rd after Mt Cooke through to the Albany Hwy crossing at North Bannister via Nerang and Gringer Creek huts. Lacking elevation change and views, the dullness of the section is made worse by the fact it is recovering from the effects of an out of control controlled burn. Definitely one of the lesser stretches of the Track.

The Dell to South Ledge (Beelu National Park)

A decent and fairly easy loop walk in the Perth Hills, The Dell to South Ledge links two popular day use areas in Beelu National Park. Utilising sections of the Munda Biddi and Bibbulmun Tracks, the trail features good views of creeks and the Helena Valley. Although a pleasant enough alternative to the first section of the Bibbulmun Track, a lack of outstanding features means this is ultimately far from an essential trail.

Mason & Bird/New Victoria Dam Loop (Korung National Park)

Combining the Mason & Bird Heritage Trail and New Victoria Dam Walk Trail, this loop walk in Korung National Park explores Australia's pioneer heritage, including the oldest extant wooden bridge in Australia, the first dam built in Western Australia and the bush grave of a baby from a pioneer family. With granite outcrops, mature stands of Wandoo and valley views along the way, this is a pleasant walk in the Perth Hills.

Bibbulmun Track (WA) - Dale Rd to Brookton Hwy

A sectional day walk through an area burnt by fires in February 2015, this intriguing walk on the Bibbulmun Track from Dale Rd to Brookton Hwy via Mt Dale campsite showcases a forest in regeneration. Marvel at clear delineations between areas severely burnt and those that were barely touched, and the way Eucalypts and Grass Trees can spring back to life even after such devastation.

Bibbulmun Track (WA) - Mundaring Weir to Ball Creek

A relatively leisurely sectional day walk on the Bibbulmun Track, this short return walk leads from Mundaring Weir through the area's historic precinct. Taking in views of Lake CY O'Connor before heading to the Perth Hills Discovery Centre and the Bibbulmun's second campsite at Ball Creek, a return walk is rewarded with a stop-in for lunch at the Mundaring Weir Hotel. An excellent beginner's walk.
